Wedding Ang Bao Market Rates

Look at this:

Useful =)

Singapore's CPI up 5.5% on-year in Dec

Look at this: http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporebusinessnews/view/1178968/1/.html

Our inflation is so much higher than bank's interest rate. The bank's interest rate is only a pathetic 0.05% per annum (for UOB passbook savings interest rate).
Today somebody asked me if I will lend $10,000 to my friend for his/her medical treatment if I can afford to lend the money. In the past, I might. If I am very rich and can afford it, I should just lend to people to save their lives right? But now, I won't. Who ask him/her not to plan for risk protection? So why should I lend the money?

It seems ages since I have last blogged. How's everybody's CNY? Having fun? For me, I feel that CNY is getting more and more sianz. I simply feel more and more distant from my relatives. Seems the same for quite a number of youngsters. Don't know why I don't really like CNY liao. And I don't like those relatives who keep asking me personal questions. What's the point of them asking? Are they genuinely concerned about me or just being kpo or just wanna compare?

Byebye Rabbit and Hihi Dragon!! Happy Chinese New Year to everyone! Huat ah!!!

Sunday, January 22, 2012

I had a really horrible dream last night. I dreamt that I got retrenched/terminated and I have to beg for a second chance! Wth right? This kind of dream when it's so near to Chinese New Year. Is it because I haven't gone to the temple and pray for a long time? Really sorry. Have been wanting to go but no time. Sorry sorry!!
I did cut my hair before CNY. Seems like there's no difference though.

Review - Tawandang Microbrewery at Suntec City

Haven't been reviewing things for sooo long. Anyway, this is a really backdated entry. I have somehow just forgotten about this.

My boss treated us to a Christmas dinner at Tawandang Microbrewery at Suntec City.

My Margarita =)

My Manager and Director kenna arrowed to sing onstage! Lolx~

Very qiao hor? They wear the same clothes.

Someone took a video of them singing but can't upload here. Later they kill me ah. Haha~

The Christmas tree is so pretty!!

Now, do you see that there are no photos of the food here? That's because the food is really not nice yet expensive! Only can go there for the atmosphere.
One day, I was just browsing through my Nuffnang account and guess what? Dawn Yang visited my blog! Amazing right?

Not sure if there's any relevance but the buses around my area were more efficient when Ms Saw Phaik Hwa was the CEO. Seriously, now I can wait up to half an hour or more for my bus to town.

So tired!! I feel like screaming at people. Haha. I think I am overworked. There are so bloody many things to do and I have so little time to myself and to sleep. I had wanted to type out my new year resolutions and 2011 reflections but I feel so sleepy!! Besides, I need to fill up some forms and client's financial profile to be submitted tomorrow so can't sleep yet!

Anyway, I won't be able to rest until 初二。Don't feel like going visiting on 初二 because that's the only day I can rest for now!

Pay Cut for President, PM and other Ministers

Something to share and discuss...

http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/view/1174694/1/.html

Will civil servants' pay be cut as well? I know that many civil servants have very high pay also. Much more than the average Singaporeans. Hm..

Anyway, personally, I still don't know how that will affect me. I guess there will be more money in the Singapore treasury but that will also depend on how the money is used.

Okies, very sleepy now. Nights all =)

Entry tests for students

There are a lot of things in the news recently which interest me greatly so I guess I will be blogging about them. I welcome discussions and comments about the topics.

http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/view/1174482/1/.html

After reading this article, do you think that tuition/enrichment centres should set entry tests for students? If it is to assess the ability of the students, so that they can be grouped together with others of similar calibre, then it is perfectly fine. But if they reject students who fail their entry tests, then it's a little demoralizing for the kids. After all, they need help and want to improve then they go for tuition/enrichment right?

Besides, many tuition/enrichment centres take in all the good students, of course their students' results are good. It may not be that their teachers or teaching materials are good. It's just that the students themselves are better academically in the first place.

SMRT CEO Resigned

Saw this in the news today. The CEO of SMRT, Saw Phaik Hwa has just resigned.

http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/view/1175196/1/.html

Wonder if it is because of the public pressure which she has to face due to the MRT disruptions last month?  Oh well. All the best!

Sometimes I really feel like studying/being a student. Got so much troubles once you work or is it my problem? I can't work with people?!?!?!

=(

A ranting post

2012 has just started but I have a few things to rant.

1. My Singtel has been down since 6pm plus. Can't call/SMS. Now, my 3G network is still down =.=

2. My home network has been unstable too.

Argh!! No hp and internet to use!!!

3. Isetan customer service is so bad. Totally no help at resolving customer's complaints! See their email reply:

Dear Miss Claudia,

I have checked with Agnes b management and had also requested for them to see if anything can be done.

Nonetheless, it is with much regrets, that they will not be able to do an exchange or refund for your item.
That is mainly because the item has been purchased from the sales corner and since it is not a defect with the spare parts, they will not be able to assist. They had mentioned that because of the nature of the material used, it is not possible for them to send it back to their factory.

Hope you will understand.
Thanks.

Celebrate 2012

How did you all spend your 31 Dec 2011? Did you spend it with your love ones? Did you do any countdown? For Robin and I, we went to Marina Bay for the countdown party and to see the beautiful fireworks! =)

First, we met at Marina Square for dinner. We had dinner at this place called Jia Xiang Sarawak Kuching Kolo Mee. It tasted great!

After dinner, we walked over for our countdown party. Boy, it was really crowded. There were many people - both locals and foreigners.

My wishes are on one of the wishing spheres!! Really hope that my wishes will come true. I will need to go and pray one day soon.

The place looks really beautiful at night.

There was such a queue at the mobile toilets =.=

At first, I was taking photos of the fireworks then I thought why not I just take a video of it? There were 8 mins of fireworks but my phone no batt!! What a time to no batt =.= But I did use Robin's phone to continue taking the fireworks video.

I just took this video from Elvin because my video only turned out to be 45s and I can't upload Robin's video!!!

People looking at the fireworks from Mandarin Oriental hotel. Great view lor!! Think must specify these rooms when you book the hotel.

Very crowded after the countdown. These are the people in front of me.

These are the people behind me.

Overall, it was a great experience except for 2 things.

1. It is really no food and drinks allowed. Can't even bring in plain water! This is like literally forcing us to buy drinks. My green tea cost $2 and Robin's ice mountain mineral water cost $2.

2. There was a human jam after the countdown. Really human jam!! Was stuck at the Esplanade area for 1 hour. Heard many people muttering and ranting around me. There was a guy who even argued with the Esplanade security staff. The Esplanade security staff really has attitude problem. Why the hell did he need to shout at people on New Year's day?

Also see the countdown celebration and fireworks in Taiwan:

And in Hong Kong:

And around the world. Youtube is so amazing. You can find all kinds of videos there!

Had wanted to type out my new year resolutions and 2011 reflections but I am really tired now. Will keep it for another time =)

Once again, may we all have a good year ahead of us!!
Went to collect my tickets for the Celebrate 2012 at URA on 29 Dec. Also gave away my McDonald's foodstrap to Janice on that day. By the way, I really panicked when I heard the announcement that the train will be delayed for a few minutes at Cityhall MRT. For a moment, I thought that I would have to walk on the tracks! Luckily, the train was really only delayed for a few minutes.

Review - Porn's

Have you heard of porn's? It's porn's not porn. There's a difference. If you have, it's great. If you haven't, read on! So what's and where's porn's?

*drumroll*

It's a Thai food place opened by the Mediacorp TV host, Pornsak and his friend. They have 3 outlets located at Liang Seah Street (near Bugis), Upper East Coast Road and Mount Faber SAFRA. The outlet which Elvin and I went to was at Liang Seah Street. It was full house when we arrived at around 7pm so it would be good if you all can call to make a reservation first. So we went nearby to this place called Dessert First to really eat dessert first while waiting for a table. The name of that place is so apt!

"Pornsak"and me. Lolx~

The staff very kindly offered to help us take a photo together. So initiative. Good!

This was in the menu's front page. Quite meaningful.

I love the Tomyam soup!!!

Think this is prawn.

Fried Chicken Wings.

Pineapple Fried Rice.

For more information, check them out at http://www.porns.com.sg/home.html

Total cost of our dinner is $50 plus.

By the way, just have a chat randomly with Elvin. Quite recently, I have seen people discussing on forum about boyfriends paying for girlfriends' meals, etc. I think the older generation guys are more gentlemanly and generous.
