Movie Synopsis

From creative genius Tim Burton (“Alice in Wonderland,” The Nightmare Before Christmas”) comes “Frankenweenie,” a heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life—with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new “leash on life” can be monstrous.

A stop-motion animated film, “Frankenweenie” will be filmed in black and white and rendered in 3D. The talented voice cast includes: Catherine O’Hara, Martin Short, Martin Landau, Charlie Tahan, Atticus Shaffer, Robert Capron, Conchata Ferrell and Winona Ryder.

Presented by Disney, “Frankenweenie” is directed by Tim Burton, produced by Tim Burton and Allison Abbate, from a screenplay by John August, based on an original idea by Tim Burton.

This makes me want to ask a question. What lengths will you go to keep your favourite pet by your side forever? Will you do like what young Victor did?

Something to ponder about. For me, I will do my utmost best to keep my favourite pet by my side forever. If I have a favourite pet, it will hurt a lot to let it leave me so whatever I can do to keep it, I might. Have to simply just try.

“Catch Disney’s FRANKENWEENIE in cinemas this 15 November 2012 and like the Official Walt Disney Studios Singapore Facebook Page, follow the @disneystudiosSG and subscribe to Official Disney Studios Singapore YouTube Channel!”

Ted Movie Review

I hardly do movie reviews although I do watch movies regularly. Now, I really wanna recommend Ted.  It is a really funny and touching movie. I cried somewhere towards the end when the Teddy Bear died. Not only me ok. I heard sniffing around in the cinema theatre. I also want a talking teddy. So cute!! Lolx~ Be warned that the show is M18, has sexual and vulgarities content though. Anyway, here's the movie trailer I manage to find.

Mummy's Birthday

Celebrated my Mum's birthday at Sushi Tei  Ichiban at Novena Square a few months ago. It was a pretty simple celebration. So here are the photos of food!!! Haha. Ordered her cake from Baskin Robbins. Yummy!!

I love lobster salad sushi. Surprisingly, I'm not allergic to this although I'm allergic to prawns.

The cake looks pretty right?

Amy Cheong Fired After Posting Racist Remarks On Her Facebook Page

Amy Cheong was an assistant director in NTUC. However, she was fired for posting racist remarks on her Facebook page regarding Malay weddings at HDB void decks. I'm not sure of the exact comment she has posted but I think it is a derogatory one. I think NTUC reacted very fast and fired her the next day. Oh well. I think NTUC could have been more lenient about it by giving her a warning letter/counseling and getting her to make a public apology (which she did on her Facebook page and Twitter) instead of just firing her. Although Amy has indeed violated her employment clause but.. I don't think she mean it so why not just give her a chance?

Copied this from http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/view/1230392/1/.html

SINGAPORE: NTUC's Secretary-General, Lim Swee Say, said firing Amy Cheong was one of the most difficult decisions he has had to make.

He has appealed to the public to learn from this incident and to move on.

Mr Lim added it was important to uphold the labour movement's core values of inclusiveness and racial harmony.

On Monday, NTUC sacked Ms Cheong following her online posting which was deemed racist.

One day after Amy Cheong's Facebook posting on Malay weddings at void decks went viral, the buzz online seemed more reflective in tone.

Advice columns on which privacy settings Facebook users should take note of was shared and a Facebook page called "Forgive Amy Cheong" was created on Tuesday morning.

A social media expert said the incident has shown that society is not afraid to speak up against inappropriate comments and behaviour.

Special research adviser at Institute of Policy Studies and member of Media Literacy Council, Arun Mahizhnan, said: "The heartening thing about the Amy Cheong incident is that quite a number of Singaporeans including many Chinese have reacted quite strongly against her racist expressions. That says something about our society's ability to distinguish between prejudice and a fair comment."

NTUC hopes something good will come out of this episode.

Mr Lim said: "Social media can play a positive role in our society or it can lead to negative consequences. It all depends on how we make use of this platform. It's a painful experience for the NTUC to go through. At the same time, we should spare a thought for the pain that she's going through. She has gone through some counselling. She has realised the grave mistake that she has made."

NTUC said Ms Cheong had violated a clause in its terms and conditions of employment which states that staff must observe proper decorum in all forms of communication.

Review - CoCo Ichibanya (313 Somerset)

Met up with Calin some time ago. She wanted to try the CoCo Ichibanya at 313 Somerset which I agreed. There was quite a long queue when we arrived. The curry is not bad. You can customise the amount of rice, the ingredients in your curry and the level of spiciness at this place. With so much variety that can arise from such a system, it's hard to not like what you order.

Review - Domino's Pizza

*Sponsored Review*

Remember about my last entry - A Movie Experience With The Dark Knight and Domino's (http://coffeeluvs.blogspot.sg/2012/08/a-movie-experience-with-dark-knight.html)? Well, I have finally tried their pizza with the voucher given. We ordered the Hawaiian Pizza and Classified Chicken. Both are not bad but personally, I prefer the Hawaiian Pizza.

The one on the left is Hawaiian Pizza while the one on the right is Classified Chicken Pizza.

Wow~!! They even have product satisfaction guarantee!

We ordered take-away. Didn't take long which is cool. I hate waiting!!

It is also halal. So Muslim people can eat them too.

Do give it a try. You can order from their website at: http://www.dominos.com.sg/Default.aspx or call them at 6222 6333. You can even download an app from the app store and order through the app. Cool right?

Review - Everything with Fries (Orchard Central)

Started in 2009 by the people behind Awfully Chocolate, Everything with Fries (EwF) is a casual restaurant featuring their own handmade breads, fresh meats and handmade sauces, all with fries. Their fries has lots of different flavours! The flavours are: their house-blend Original fries, Sour Cream & Onion fries and spicy Curry fries.

I have heard about this place so decided to try it with Diana. I love the bread, fries and chicken nuggets. The bread is so soft and tender. The fries taste special and the nuggets are good. The meat is tender. The price is reasonable. Do give it a try if you are in the Orchard area. It is located on the first floor of Orchard Central.

Johor Bahru Day Trip - KSL City

KSL City is an integrated development which comprises 500 retail outlets, 1000 hotel rooms, 602 condominiums and 2800 car parks. The retail outlets was opened to public on 12 December 2010. Onyee organized an outing to KSL City one day. It was my first time there. Think I can call myself a Malaysia Queen. Haha. Keep going there. If you want to go to KSL City, you can either take a bus from JB Sentral (below City Square) or take a cab. It cost RM1.50 to go by bus and around RM 6-7 to go by cab.

Upon reaching KSL, we decided to have lunch at Kim Gary. The food there is not bad.

They have a wide variety of french fries to choose from. We chose the curry fries. Yummm~!!

The cheese mushroom is nice as well.

My ramen/"maggie noodles".

After lunch, we went shopping. I bought a new wallet there. Can't stand my Agnes B wallet. Read about it here - http://coffeeluvs.blogspot.sg/2011/12/agnis-b-voyage-wallet.html. The condition is much worse than the one shown in the photo above. Will not buy any Agnes B product anymore. Was also rather pissed off with Isetan for their lack of customer support for me. Oh well. I hardly shop in Isetan nowadays anyway. Have better places to shop at.

Onyee recommended us to try the ice-cream at Fonte. It was fabulous! I absolutely love my durian ice-cream. It is sooo rich in durian. Nice! However, it is a little expensive - RM9.90.

Must try this okie? Really awesome!!

After a day of shopping in KSL City, we took a cab (RM 6) to San Low Seafood Restaurant. Saw many raves about that place online so decided to give it a try. Overall, I would say that the food there is moderate. Not too bad but not too good. You guys can try it for yourself. Total damage is about RM 120 plus or something. Can't remember already.
