Rant

Feel like ranting again coz I have been waiting for my boyfriend to finish work. Damn sianz and my phone is now low batt. Can't stand my boyfriend already. Why always need to meet? =.=  Waited for 2 hours. Gee!!

Shopping List

Don't know why I always seem to have so many things to buy and sometimes the things which I have bought are not even on my shopping list! Perhaps I really need to refer to my blog on my mobile phone when I am outside so that I can remember to buy them.

Anyway, here's the list:

1. Shaving gel

2. Wet tissue

3. New clothes

4. New heels/shoes

5. Powder - I did remember to buy it from my previous shopping list but I need more!

6. Toothpaste

7. Facial wipes.

8. Heat Tech clothes from Uniqlo - Heard many good reviews about it.

9. New socks.

I think that's all I can remember for now. I also need to go to the dentist and hairdresser. Going broke =.= It's so easy to spend money!

HGST Singapore lays off 531 workers in largest retrenchment exercise

HGST, a global company that specialises in data storage, has retrenched 531 workers from its Singapore facility. This is the largest retrenchment exercise for HGST's Singapore facility in the last 20 years. HGST's Singapore facility manufactures high-end hard drives.

SINGAPORE: HGST, a US-headquartered global company that specialises in data storage, has retrenched 531 workers from its Singapore facility.

This is the largest retrenchment exercise for HGST's Singapore facility in the last 20 years.

HGST's Singapore facility manufactures high-end hard drives.

The company says it is relocating one of its production lines to Thailand, citing rising operating costs in Singapore. About half of the production line has already moved to Thailand, and the move will be completed in six months' time.

Most of those retrenched are production operators, and about half are Singaporeans. Some have been working for less than a year, but others have been with the company for up to 19 years.

About 1,840 workers still remain in the Singapore office - many of them are engineers and support staff.

HGST said the retrenchment exercise is part of its long-term plan to re-position the Singapore facility from a mass volume manufacturing site to an engineering centre, overseeing factories in Thailand and China.

This was decided about three years ago, and employees were informed in November.

HGST said that most of its competitors, like Seagate, have already relocated their manufacturing facilities out of Singapore.

Heng Chee How, executive secretary of the United Workers of Electrical and Electrical Industries (UWEEI), oversaw the retrenchment exercise on Friday morning.

HGST said workers will be receiving compensation packages pegged to industry standards.

Mr Heng said UWEEI is saddened by this retrenchment exercise but understood that the company faces keen challenges to maintain cost competitiveness.

He said HGST has committed to UWEEI to ensure fair compensation and treatment for the affected employees.

Mr Heng added that HGST will extend hospitalisation and surgical insurance coverage in Singapore till March 2014 and pay union membership dues for three months till March 2014 so that the workers will continue to receive benefits.

UWEEI and the Employment and Employability Institute (e2i) will be organising a targeted job fair on 16 January 2014 at the institute for the affected workers. About 500 jobs will be on offer.

UWEEI said it will work closely with HGST to ensure that the affected workers are treated fairly and will try its best to render all possible assistance, and help train and place the affected employees in new jobs.

Just read about this piece of news from CNA website. Am quite saddened by the news. Especially now when the year is ending and everybody is feeling festive. Moreover, Chinese New Year is coming! Hopefully, those retrenched workers can find another job soon.

Review - Max Brenner Chocolate Bar at Vivocity

Max Brenner Chocolate Bar is the perfect destination for all chocolate and dessert lovers - this is what I have heard. That place was always crowded whenever I walked pass it. Decided to try it with Diana one weekend as there were empty seats. As we were not really hungry, we just tried out their hot chocolate. It is very sweet. A bit too sweet for my liking but I love the marshmallows!

I also bought Robin's birthday present while shopping on that day. Haha~ It's an Adidas bag.

Nuffnang Ads

Why are my Nuffnang ads gone? I went to see some other blogger's blog. Their Nuffnang ads are gone too. Something is wrong with Nuffnang? Nothing is written on their website regarding this. Hopefully, my ads come back soon!

Review - Fish & Co at Vivocity

Tried out Fish & Co at Vivocity with Diana. Haven't eaten at Fish & Co for quite some time. Fish & Co serves all their food in a unique Mediterranean style - in a pan! This was an inspiration drawn from the simple practices of South African fisherman; who caught seafood fresh from the seas and cooked them immediately in the pan. This method of presenting freshly cooked fish and seafood meals is pretty unique and further enhances the relaxed, friendly and engaging environment which the founders have set out to achieve.

Anyway, if I remember correctly, I think they have changed their menu and added more dishes. It looked different to me.

The menu. It looks like a magazine. Haha~

See, they have so many types of fish now. It wasn't like that previously right? My memory is still good right?

I ordered the Singapore Fish & Chips. Haha. Must support Singapore mah. How patriotic. Hee~ Anyway, it is not bad. Can go try =)

I can't remember what Diana ordered.

Merry Christmas!!

Wishing all my readers a very Merry Christmas!!

Christmas

Christmas is coming. Everyone is feeling joyous! Haha~ I have been shopping a lot during this period. By the way, I have no idea why but I am always short of Christmas present. Now I am short of one present for one of my friends. I also don't know what to get for Robin. I should probably get some chocolates for my colleagues on Tuesday. Hopefully, we only need to work half day on Tuesday. Haha!

By the way, I really hate my stupid itch!

Trip to the Night Safari

We brought one of our colleagues from UK to the Night Safari after work one day. Took the MRT to Ang Mo Kio, followed by a cab. It was drizzling a little as we travelled there. Fortunately, it stopped raining when we reached and it was cooling.

I am just going to spam photos. For those of you who are interested in finding out more about the Night Safari, do check out their website here - http://www.nightsafari.com.sg

Had dinner at Bongo Burgers which is located at the entrance of the Night Safari before beginning our visit. The food which I had there is so-so. Wanted to try the spring chicken but need to wait for around 20 mins so I decided to order the fish and chips instead.

Don't miss out the animal show!

 Can you see the bat?

The bat was hanging upside down on one of the tree branches.

 Sleeping leopard.

Bull? Not sure.

Took cab home afterwards. Was feeling kinda tired. I think there are buses there to the city area. Can ask around when you are there.
