Public transport fare is going to increase again!!!
In case you are still unaware, there is a 1 per cent public transport fare hike approved earlier on Friday morning by the Public Transport Council (PTC). On Friday morning, the PTC announced that from Oct 8, adult card fares for buses and trains will increase by 2 cents per journey. Senior citizen concessionary fares will increase by 1 cent per journey. There will be no change to child and student concessionary card fares.
On average, the PTC said the fare hike works out to about a rise of 15 cents per week for 85 per cent of commuters. The changes which will take into effect on Oct 8 also coincides with the opening of the full Circle Line, which means commuters will only see one round of fare increases.
But if my memory serves me correctly, I need to top up my ez-link card more frequently since they introduced the distance-fare thingy. And I don't even make use of the Circle Line lor. Why open the full Circle Line needs to increase bus fare? I don't get it. Anyway, sometimes I see SMRT employ staff at the LRT there during peak hours and they just stand there guide people here and there which is so redundant. During peak hours, people all rush here, rush there, don't even need the staff to guide!

i agree it should be reducing the transport cost and giving more rebates instead imo.
